NÚBIA MENDONÇA

REGULATIONS OF THE NÚBIA MENDOÇA AWARD

The Nubia de Mendonça Award, replaced by the ONCO Award, formerly established by ONCO - Bahia Oncology Society and now established by the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology, is awarded to one of the papers registered at the Brazilian Congress of Pediatric Oncology and ranked 1st, with the following regulations:

TITLE I
Purpose


To stimulate scientific medical research on cancer in children, aiming to improve the level of care and quality of life of children with malignant disease (clinical focus).

TITLE II
Registration


The following may apply for the Award:

  1. All members in good standing with the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology (SOBOPE). When the paper has more than one collaborator, one of them must be a SOBOPE member in good standing;
  2. All those who officially register for the Brazilian Congress of Pediatric Oncology;
  3. Unpublished papers, not yet published;
  4. Papers focused on clinical issues will be evaluated.

About the Papers

  1. The papers must be written in Portuguese;
  2. The names of the authors must be omitted;
  3. The name of the institution or institutions must be omitted.

The following are not eligible to compete for the Award:


  1. Members of the Judging Committee;
  2. Members of the Board of Directors of SOBOPE in office;
  3. Papers already presented or published;
  4. Papers that present in their content political, religious, ideological tendencies or those linked to international interests;
  5. Papers prepared in countries other than that of the investigators;
  6. Papers that directly or indirectly may harm the image, philosophy of action and/or products linked to the sponsor.

Submission


  • The papers, in full and in PDF format, must be sent by email to sobope@sobope.org.br with the title Prêmio Nubia Mendonça;
  • In another file, the names of the authors, contact telephone numbers and full address must be sent;
  • A statement signed by all authors, agreeing to these rules, must also be sent in a separate file but to the same email;

The papers must be sent up to 30 days before the date of the Congress.


TITLE III
Distribution


  1. SOBOPE collaborators will receive the papers and analyze whether they comply with these rules;
  2. The papers will be numbered in ascending order;
  3. The papers will be submitted to the Judging Committee.

Judging

When evaluating the papers presented, the Members of the Judging Committee must grade the results of their evaluations from 01 to 05 regarding the following points:

  1. Importance of the subject addressed.
  2. Analysis and interpretation of the data collected.
  3. Writing.
  4. Potential of conclusions to benefit children with cancer.

The paper that obtains the highest sum of points will be considered the winner. In the event of a tie, the prize will be divided among the winners.
The decision made by the Judging Committee in choosing the winning paper(s) is considered supreme, irrevocable and unappealable.

TITLE IV
Presentation of the Prize


The Prize will be presented at a ceremony scheduled by the Scientific Committee of the Congress, during the Congress.
When the winning paper has more than one author, the first listed will be the reference for receiving the Prize: this will be divided among all collaborators, with a Diploma being awarded to each of the co-authors.
